Methodology

How we source, verify, and update every entry on the platform.

Source hierarchy

  1. Primary regulators — Bangladesh Bank circulars, BSEC notifications, BIDA filings, RJSC company registry, NBR SROs.
  2. Company-issued material — official press releases, audited filings, investor pages.
  3. Tier-1 international press — DealStreetAsia, TechCrunch, Reuters, Bloomberg, Nikkei Asia, Tech in Asia.
  4. Reputable BD newsrooms — The Business Standard, The Daily Star, Dhaka Tribune, Future Startup, Prothom Alo.
  5. Industry reports — LightCastle, Bain, BCG, IFC, World Bank, ADB.

Deal log inclusion rules

  • Disclosed venture, growth, or grant rounds where at least the company name and round stage are publicly reported.
  • Amount field shows the publicly disclosed figure or "Undisclosed". We do not estimate.
  • Investor list reflects what was publicly disclosed; we do not infer participation.
  • Every row links to the exact article or announcement that evidences it — no homepage citations. Primary (company / investor / regulator) and secondary (press) sources are labelled separately.
  • Rows whose details cannot be verified against a specific source are removed, not estimated.

Company directory inclusion rules

  • Bangladesh-incorporated companies, or non-BD companies with material BD operations / footprint.
  • Operational (not zombie / shut-down) at time of listing.
  • Source-cited summary; no marketing copy reproduced verbatim.

VC / investor list rules

  • Funds with at least one disclosed BD investment, or formally registered to operate in BD (BSEC AIF licence, BIDA-registered).
  • Ticket size, stage, and sector focus reflect publicly stated mandates.

Update cadence

Current status: the deal log is a verified archive, last verified 9 Apr 2025. New rounds are not being added while the dataset is re-verified; we say so on every page that shows deal data rather than implying live coverage. When live tracking resumes, the cadence is: deal log as rounds are announced, company / VC entries reviewed quarterly or on material change, regulatory pages on circular issuance.

What we do NOT do

  • Estimate or back-fill undisclosed deal amounts.
  • Publish off-the-record information.
  • Accept paid placements in editorial or directory listings.
